FocusCivil’s latest addition to the River North neighborhood is Hubbard Place, a 43-story apartment tower with 450 residences and an adjacent 8-story parking garage that will accommodate 520 vehicles. Designed to LEED Silver standards, Hubbard Place will also include high-end finishes, amenities, and services. Residents will enjoy a rooftop deck with a pool, outdoor kitchen, and firepit seating areas; a fitness center; business center; and a landscaped plaza with a large water feature.
This new 1,150-foot bridge links Illinois Routes 31 and 25 over the Fox River in St. Charles, Illinois providing a connection for both vehicles and pedestrians. Because of strict environmental laws and shallow river levels, FocusCivil could not use causeways or crane barges to build the new structure so a temporary bridge was constructed to provide access to the river for the installation of seven new pier foundations. Once the piers were constructed, the pedestrian cable-stayed bridge was erected followed by seventy five, 5-foot tall roadway steel bridge girders.
The roadway deck was poured over a two-day period placing over 1,200 cubic yards of concrete. Steel railings and ornamental precast pylons were also installed.
Additional work included widening Illinois Route 31 and Route 25 on each side of the river, installing new traffic signals, installing precast retaining walls, and curbs in order to connect the new river crossing roadway.
